All you need to know about the Cliffs of Moher Cliff Walk in Summer/Autumn 2025

Sections of the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk were closed in August 2024 because of safety concerns on the trail. The local council is now planning to do safety works on these sections, but a lot of the walk is still closed in 2025.

Before the closure, you could walk along the Cliffs of Moher from Liscannor in the South and Doolin from the North. Both of those trails met at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre.

This is what the walk looks like in 2025:

From Liscannor:

There is a private car park at the back of someone's house near the trail start here. You need to pay €5 in cash to use the parking spaces.

You can then walk along the road until the start of the trail. The walk is completely blocked off in front of Moher Tower at Hag's Head, so you cannot walk any bit of the trail and you do not have any views of the Cliffs of Moher.

Cliffs of Moher View from Liscannor

The Cliffs of Moher Walk from Liscannor is closed and does not offer many views of the Cliffs.

From Doolin:

You can park your car in the village at either O'Connor's Pub (limited spaces and they fill up quickly) or Fitzpatrick's Pub (adds about 1km to the trail).

The trail starts at a farm gate and you are able to walk 5km of the Cliff Walk, after which there are barriers on the trail and you will have to turn around.

The walk offers some stunning views of the Aran Islands and the Atlantic Ocean and there are very good views of the Cliffs of Moher at Pat's View, about 3km from the trail start.

My recommendation:

If it is your first time seeing the Cliffs of Moher, I would definitely recommend you go to the Visitor Centre. There is a reason they built it at this point - the views of the Cliffs are simply the most stunning here. You can still walk along the cliffs here as well. A big downside is how busy the Visitor Centre is, so I would highly recommend that you get here when they open at 8am and beat the crowds.

I would not recommend the Liscannor side of the walk - there is little to gain from here.

The 5km of the Doolin Coastal Walk are well worth it and the scenery from Pat's View is stunning.
